Whitewater Boating Weekends

Come watch world-class kayakers as they navigate the Tallulah River as it winds through Tallulah Gorge. Five weekends out of the year, Georgia Power Company releases extra water over the Tallulah Dam to make this spectacular event possible. The kayakers can be seen going over Oceana Falls from both the North and South Rim Trail at Tallulah Gorge State Park. They can also be seen paddling down the Tallulah River and going over Sweet Sixteen Falls from the overlook porch at Tallulah Point. On Saturday, the expanded flow of water over the dam is 500 cubic feet per second and on Sunday it is 700 cfs. The water release begins at 8 am with the kayakers beginning at 9:00 and ends at 4 pm.
